Brownstone Boys is a small, fast-growing Interior Design & Renovation Project Management firm specializing in full townhouse renovations in Brooklyn & NYC. We have a love of restoring original historic details and bringing in clean modern design elements. The spaces we create marry that historic charm with livable, timeless design. Restoring and modernizing these architecturally beautiful buildings is a challenging and rewarding process. We design and manage projects from conceptualization to completion and collaborate with clients throughout NYC and beyond. We have an immediate opportunity for a Designer & Project Manager with a passion for design and strong organizational skills. The individual will help with all aspects of the project: conceptual design, client collaboration, design presentations, producing detailed drawings and renderings, sourcing materials, project management, and trouble-shooting. The best applicant will be great at wearing many hats and comfortable with a changing scope of work. The position is full-time with a combination in-person and remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and budget.
  • Develop design concepts that align with the client’s vision and project requirements.
  • Create detailed drawings, mood boards, renderings, and presentations to communicate design ideas effectively
  • Lead client presentations, effectively communicating design concepts and solutions.
  • Select appropriate fixtures, finishes, materials, and furniture to enhance the overall design concept.
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, and other professionals to ensure the seamless execution of projects.
  • Oversee the installation and implementation of design plans, ensuring quality and adherence to timelines.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in interior design.
  • Prepare comprehensive design documentation, including drawings, schedules, and specifications.
  • Manage documents and drawings in appropriate folders and update with relevant versions.

Requirements

  •  2-5 years of work experience in architecture or interior design
  • Professional degree from an accredited architecture or design school
  • Knowledge of construction sequencing and interior finishes
  • Proficiency in design and 3D rendering software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, and/or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and team members.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously working toward multiple deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong skills to document and track finish schedules and orders
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact well with clients, architects, engineers, and consultants
  • Project management skills – Organized, self-starter who can work independently, comfortable working in remote work environment
  • Ability to interact fluently on-site with builders and clients
  • Located in NYC, Brooklyn preferred since most of our projects are here.
