The Faculty of Architecture
Globally ranked top 15 consecutively over the past seven years and 14th in 2022 in the field of Architecture and Built Environment in the QS World University Rankings by Subject, the Faculty of Architecture is currently comprised of three core departments and one division: the Department of Architecture, the Department of Real Estate and Construction, the Department of Urban Planning and Design, and the Division of Landscape Architecture.
The Faculty has grown significantly over the last decade, from increased student numbers and prize-winning built architectural designs, to impactful research and establishing 15 cross-disciplinary HKUrbanLabs. In 2021/22, the Faculty has over 1,600 new student enrolment in its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The Dean will provide a clear vision, strong academic and strategic leadership to elevate the Faculty’s position as a world-leading centre of excellence in research, teaching, learning, and knowledge exchange, in alignment with the overall vision and strategic plan of the University. The ideal candidate should possess distinguished academic credentials and/or professional standing internationally in one of the Faculty disciplines or a closely related one. His/her track record should serve as proof of the ability to lead a Faculty of Architecture and enable its future development in addressing the challenges that face built environment professionals both in Asia and around the world. The Dean is the leader and principal spokesperson of the Faculty within the University community as well as internationally. He/she is responsible for leading the Faculty to success with respect to research impact, interdisciplinary collaboration, technological innovation, student recruitment, young scholar mentoring, development, alumni relations, sustainability initiatives and related professional and industry involvement.
