Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design aspires to provide education and scholarship of the highest quality—to advance the frontiers of technology in relation to design, to educate leaders in design, research, and scholarship, to make a resilient, just, and beautiful world. The Department of Architecture invites highly qualified individuals to apply to a full-time, assistant professor tenure track position in Design Computation in relation to fabrication. While the position is housed in the Department of Architecture, the selected candidate is expected to engage students and colleagues across the school’s departments and programs, including the Master in Design Studies Program, as well as the Master in Design Engineering Program.

Teaching responsibilities will primarily involve required introductory courses in Computational Design / Digital Media and Digital Fabrication, as well as advanced courses in these areas. The successful applicant should also be able to participate in design studio reviews and offer instruction in the related areas of Structural Design or Building Construction, topics that are part of the required core technology sequence of the MArch I program.

Candidates should be creative researchers able to advance knowledge in the area of technology as described above. A collaborative mindset and interest in engaging in the school’s Center for Green Buildings and Cities and the Laboratory for Design Technology are expected. Candidates should have an exemplary record of research and teaching and should be able to interact with related disciplines such as engineering or computer science.

Candidates are required to hold a doctoral degree in a related area. Prior teaching experience and a strong publication record are required.

This appointment, anticipated to start 2024, is expected to be a full-time position at the level of assistant professor. We will review applications on a rolling basis starting on June 14, 2023.
