We are in search of a visionary art director to focus on image research, concept development and storytelling. This pivotal role requires an individual with a refined aesthetic sensibility that aligns seamlessly with our studio’s visual language alongside an innate ability to curate captivating visual narratives in relation to spatial concepts.
For the art director position, we expect the candidate to work autonomously on complex projects, as well as in teams. They should demonstrate an ability to organize their time efficiently and be meticulous in archiving their research.
sub‘s portfolio encompasses architecture, scenography, virtual environments and experience design. The studio has developed large-scale projects, installations and exhibition architecture. Sub is a global operation, with projects across Europe, North America and the Asia-Pacific region.

Responsibilities:
- conduct thorough image research to distil inspiration from an eclectic array of visual references
- craft sophisticated presentations using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, effectively communicating design concepts to internal stakeholders
- collaborate closely with design teams to translate abstract ideas into evocative visual narratives that resonate with our studio’s aesthetic
- produce mood boards and concept sketches that encapsulate the essence of each project
- maintain a vigilant awareness of emerging design trends in the worlds of art, fashion, entertainment, architecture and the digital landscape
Requirements:
- proven expertise in image research and concept presentation within the design industry
- mastery of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, with a portfolio showcasing polished visual presentations
- a repertoire of references with a focus on spatial concepts, art, design, materials and the digital landscape
