Job Title: Architectural Staff / Architect Level II

Reports to: Principal

Job Description:

Certified licensed professional or non-licensed architectural designer. Professional degree in Architecture, plus at least five years of related experience. Responsible for specific technical design aspects of an assigned major project, including investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of design solutions that best meet the client’s needs. Provides professional architectural consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of large complex projects. Independently applies advanced architectural concepts and designs. Carries out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures. May provide technical guidance to less experienced architects/architectural staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • As a vital component of the design team, develop original and creative design concepts, ideas, and solutions.
  • Prepare detailed working drawings for the construction of new construction and for the restoration and repairs of existing historic structures.
  • Be responsible for medium to large-size projects and coordinate project workflow; review engineer plans and specifications to verify compliance with Florida Building Code.
  • Research laws and codes in conjunction with projects; establish construction schedules; establish and coordinate work sequence; supervise and inspect construction of projects.
  • Initiate work assignments for assigned staff, review architectural plans and specifications prepared by staff or by contract architects and engineers to verify compliance with Florida Building Code and project budget restraints.
  • Provide work direction and guidance to junior architectural staff.
  • Supervise the preparation of plans and develop plans for new construction and historic restoration projects; develop architectural designs.
  • Make complex routine calculations involved in design specifications; write or revise specifications.
  • Maintain district archives and update records, drawings and specifications.
  • Implement code, accessibility, and zoning assessments, as well as evaluate and integrate engineering systems.
  • Perform construction administration duties, field inspections during construction, and prepare field reports.
  • Certify final completion of projects and contracted services.
  • Use a creative strategy to carry out activities and responsibilities on projects in an orderly, timely, and consistent manner while staying within the parameters of the timeline and budget.
  • Provide guidance to junior architectural staff.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Produce construction-ready documents for contractors and permitting agencies.
  • Knowledge of the Florida Building Code.
  • Knowledge of architectural and engineering nomenclature, symbols, customs, and practices.
  • Knowledge of governmental organization, permitting operations, policies, and objectives.
  • Contribute to office libraries / AutoCAD and Revit standards and suggest changes to workflows.
  • Prepare specifications and drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Outstanding communication verbal and written skills.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Meet project schedules and deadlines.
  • Prepare and present reports.
  • Must be a U.S Citizen and local to the Greater Miami area.
  • Must be fluent in both written and spoken English; Spanish is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Train, supervise, and guide assigned staff.
  • Develop and build teams.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Architecture, Historic Preservation, or a related discipline.
  • Historic Preservation experience is a plus.
  • 5-6 + years experience in AutoCAD and Revit.
  • 5-6 + years experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Suite.
  • Problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and motivation to learn.
  • Outstanding communication verbal and written skills.
  • Project Leadership skills, with collaborative collegial, and respectful attitude and demeanor.

Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
