Design Technology Manager

Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Design Technology Manager to maintain and coordinate the firm’s holistic use of BIM though the integration of Revit, VR, Rendering, and other 3D design applications. Project will be based out of Washington, DC, with occasional trips to the New Orleans studio to lead training sessions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and updates firm practices, standards, and tools to optimize efficiency and accuracy of BIM production and digital design, including maintenance and updates of studio best practices, file management standards, project set-up and support.
  • Works with project teams at startup and throughout design and documentation to ensure the use of best practices and assist in troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Assist project teams in BIM project setup and the coordination of BIM execution plans throughout the lifecycle of the project. (Setup project, develop BxP specifics, coordinate BIM exchange)
  • Coordinates with consultants to integrate their design/documentation methodologies with EDR’s to facilitate consistent and reliable transfer of information.
  • Coordinate implementation of BIM execution plan with project partners.
  • Coordinate and monitor BIM on projects across studios. (Model checks, QA/QC)
  • Manage the implementation of software applications for BIM project delivery. (Manage renewals, assign user licenses, training, and deployment)
  • Research emerging technology and best practices relating to digital technologies and improving project workflow efficiencies. Work with the Director of Technology to implement new technologies and workflows in the office.
  • Engage with office committees and groups relating to digital technology and manage the implementation of specific tasks or efforts within the office, communicating results to leadership.
  • Work with office leadership to develop staff training programs and local resources for BIM implementation in a growing environment.
  • Document design technology processes procedures and workflows (tutorials and intranet articles)
  • Mitigate project risk or firm exposure and enhance the quality of the firm’s project delivery in Revit.
  • Create Revit family content as required and coordinate development of Revit family content by team members as required for project documentation.
  • Coordinate with team leadership and discipline Leaders to ensure BIM production efforts meet organization quality standards.
  • Provide day-to-day project team support and provide training on an as-needed basis to support effective BIM production and coordination.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in architecture or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with digital design in architecture or a related field. Previous BIM manager experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and proven background in Revit.
  • Additional knowledge of Enscape, AutoCAD, Rhino, Navisworks, Dynamo preferred.
  • Interest and experience in emerging digital design and computation technologies and related software applications and practices.
  • Must be highly effective at implementing software programs, techniques, and procedures and have a desire to work in an entrepreneurial, architectural environment.
  • Must be self-motivated, resourceful, and organized.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), and strong team-oriented people skills; must be able to articulate BIM concepts and practices to all levels of design team.
