Job Summary
The Facilities Architect provides professional, licensed, and credentialed architectural expertise in designing, modifying, and constructing institution facilities, including buildings and physical plant infrastructure to meet regulatory and professional architectural standards. Campus Planning’s primary functions are capital budget oversight, construction management, and long-range planning, all of which this position supports. Excellent communication, written, and graphic representation skills are essential. The Facilities Architect works to advance Campus Planning’s guiding principles of inclusion and access; sustainability; quality, efficient spaces; reuse, consolidation, divestment; and responsive-responsible investment.
Hybrid work options may be available to Wisconsin residents. Work will be performed primarily on the UW-Milwaukee main campus, with requests for remote work considered after the initial training period. Specifics regarding work location requirements will be discussed during the interview process.
Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
Highly qualified candidates will also have:
• Demonstrated professional project management experience.
• Evidence of excellent communication skills (including written, visual graphics, etc.).
• Master of Architecture, Urban Planning, Urban Design, or related field
• Experience in higher education
• AIA membership
• LEED accreditation/experience
• Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) training and/or experience working with diverse populations.
