Promotion Eligible Non-Tenure Track Instructional Assistant Professor of Architecture with an emphasis in Professional Practice

The Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design at The University of Houston seeks qualified candidates for a full-time, Promotion Eligible Non-Tenure Track Instructional Assistant Professor focusing on the areas of Design and Professional Practice.

We seek candidates with a vision in a critical design practice that can be applied in a studio with intellectual curiosity, a recognized experience in design pedagogy across levels, and technical knowledge that can be translated into a curricula, program vision, teaching, and scholarship.  The appointment will come with a primary focus on teaching (undergraduate and graduate architecture) and a choice of service and/or research. As a further opportunity the candidate is also invited to grow with the college in multiple potential areas.

Qualifications
Qualified candidates must hold at least one degree in Architecture. Candidates must hold a Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a design-related field, with a record of professional/critical practice, scholarship, and teaching experience.

Candidates must demonstrate superior design, a knowledge of building integration, technical representation, and strong design media skills with clarity in communication and an openness to collaboration. We seek candidates with a strong commitment to innovative teaching practices, cultural awareness, critical practice, and theoretical scholarship. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications.
