About the role: This role is pivotal to great design across a project scale—from massing to detailing. Enthusiasm for well-designed housing in San Diego’s climatic wonderland is a must. This requires a curious mind searching for clear design resolutions in a collaborative setting. This role is pivotal in developing processes and teams within an expanding portfolio of multi-family residential projects. It requires an incisive mind adept at leadership, design thinking and decision making.

Team Management:

  • Oversee project team assignments
  • Manage multiple small to mid-sized projects (10-50 units) to assure efficiency and cost-effectiveness, with attention to tasks including estimating fees, determining scope of work, handling project documentation and preparing proposals and contracts
  • Ensure QA/QC standards
  • Ensure design quality from project conception to construction completion

Client Management:

  • Serve as the primary client liaison to bring the schedule, budget and scope of work to completion to the office and client’s satisfaction

Qualifications/Candidate Requirements: We are looking for someone who can prioritize research, design and schedule and who brings inspiration through all project phases.

  • 10+ years of experience, California license required
  • Expert knowledge of design and construction processes in multi-family residential
  • Diverse knowledge of architecture principles, practices and management methods
  • Accuracy working with speed
  • Leadership acumen with experience leading teams of 5 to 10 architects/designers across a portfolio of residential projects
  • Advanced skills in Revit – 5 to 10 years of experience
  • Receive director training to quickly grow into your next role
  • Gain skills and experience outside of architecture in landscape architecture and real estate development

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience exceeding AIA compensation survey. 401k, health insurance QSEHRA, 13 paid holidays, 80 hours PTO, 80 hours UTO, 24 hours sicktime, and more
