LOCATION: Austin, TX (hybrid)
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree and/or master’s degree in architecture
REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATIONS: Professional architectural license preferred but not required
EXPERIENCE: 7+ years, with a focus on Science & Technology and Lab Planning
Salary: $79,000 – $110,000

Why we’re looking for you: We are looking for a qualified designer that is aligned with our values to join our award-winning architectural, planning, and interior design firm. We seek professionals to work across our Philadelphia, PA, Raleigh, N.C and Austin, TX offices that will bring knowledge, experience, and expertise to the role of Project Architect with a strong focus on science & technology projects. This role will be an integral part of the design team for learning environments, research facilities and other specialty project types for a broad range of clients in the Science & Tech, Private Commercial, and Educational sectors.
JOB SUMMARY:
The S&T Focused Project Architect will focus on planning and execution of projects from inception through completion. Collaborate with other team members, and occasionally review the work of team members and/or consultants while developing design and technical solutions throughout all phases of a project.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Engage all phases of a project, from concept to close-out for projects of various scales and technical complexities.
· Collaborate and contribute to construction document production
· Conduct/lead preliminary review all drawings, specifications, code analysis, material selections, and specifications before finalizing with the Project Manager or Partner-In-Charge
· Lead client meetings and regularly interfaces with clients and consultants
· Meet with Project Manager or the Partner-In-Charge on a regular basis to ensure projects are executed according to clients’ goals and expectations.
· Manage and report staffing deficiencies and needs to the Project manager or Partner-in-Charge.
· Lead programming and lab planning workshops
· Kick off Lab Planning projects coordinating multiple vendors and consultants.
· Coordinate equipment and utility needs with client and engineering consultants
· Perform code analysis and specify architectural systems.
· Manage the required scope of work. Maintain responsibility for the team’s execution of the work in an efficient and thorough manner.
· Identify and employ methods for improving the quality of documentation for the firm to mitigate risk
· Advocate for teamwork, superior client service and design excellence and encourages team members and consultants to keep these as a priority throughout the duration of a project
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
· Project experience with clients in sectors including Higher Ed, Pharmaceutical, Biopharma & Biotech, and other Science & Tech Industries is preferred.
· An understanding of lab planning and the ability to teach less experienced designers.
· Excellent communication and collaboration skills
· Experience writing specifications and the ability to teach this skill to less experienced designers
· Ability to use sound and independent judgment
· Solid understanding of building and life safety code
· Proven ability to lead the design, documentation, and construction administration process
· An interest or expertise in sustainable design is a plus
· Proficiency in Revit
· Familiarity with, or willingness to learn Enscape
· Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
· Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) is a plus
EDUCATION:
· Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in architecture
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
· Project related travel 1-4 times a year out of state; local travel in city of Philadelphia and surrounding areas for onsite meetings and project needs
