Position summary
We are seeking a skilled mid-weight or senior interior designer to join our expanding team. The ideal candidate will possess previous experience in luxury interior design, with proficiency in technical aspects and the ability to switch seamlessly to FF&E, accessory, and soft furnishing design. A strong understanding of materials, luxury and premium product specifications, and collaboration with skilled artisans and suppliers is essential and should be demonstrable by candidates. The role demands meticulous attention to detail, proficiency in reviewing and signing off shop drawings, and a knack for creating bespoke solutions that elevate each project to new heights of sophistication. The role is full-time in our office and is based in North London, very close to Chalk Farm Station and near Primrose Hill.
Key responsibilities:
- review documentation and collaborate with procurement and ID departments for the development and implementation of FF&E designs, ensuring the highest standards of quality and aesthetic appeal by our makers
- conduct thorough reviews of shop drawings to ensure compliance with design intent, specifications, and industry standards, provide detailed feedback for accuracy and precision in execution
- possess a comprehensive understanding of joinery and furniture manufacturing processes, techniques, and materials, collaborate closely with craftsmen and manufacturers to bring designs to life with impeccable craftsmanship and attention to detail
- reporting to the head of design and working in a team with other designers and architects
- preparing detailed and accurate drawings, designs, plans and schemes
- producing comprehensive and professional-looking mood boards for presentations to clients
- producing technical drawings and tender packages in CAD
- managing the selection, budgeting, scheduling, and procurement of FF&E
- liaising with suppliers, project managers and subcontractors in design realization
- utilize expert knowledge of materials and fittings to select and specify those that enhance the aesthetic and functional aspects of each project, aligning with the design intent for durability, longevity, visual impact and importantly – budget
- cultivate strong relationships with luxury suppliers, artisans, makers, and artists to source unique and exquisite furnishings, finishes, and decor elements, collaborating closely with external partners to exceed client expectations
- demonstrate versatility and proficiency across all aspects of interior design, from specifying accessories to designing custom joinery, collaborating with MEP contractors to integrate design elements seamlessly within the architectural framework for a cohesive and harmonious design solution
Qualifications:
- bachelor’s degree in interior design or related field
- five-plus years’ experience in luxury interior design, with a focus on high-end residential or hospitality projects
- proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and other relevant design software
- strong communication, presentation, and project management skills
- proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
- passion for design innovation, creativity, and continuous learning
