Think Wilder Architecture is a fast-growing, boutique architectural firm located in Harlem, New York, and Newark, New Jersey. We are a full-service architecture firm with a strong commitment to design excellence. In our projects, we seek to enhance the urban aesthetic while incorporating green and smart growth concepts that result in high-quality projects. Our architectural services begin at conceptual design and extend through construction administration. Our portfolio includes new construction, renovation, and historic preservation projects throughout New York and New Jersey.

We are currently seeking an Interior Designer to join our expanding team. The ideal candidate should have a passion for residential, commercial, and education building interior design with a minimum of 5 years of experience. We desire for all applicants to perform all phases of the interior design process from programming and conceptual design development through to construction administration, assisting and participating in research gathering, visioning, and implementation of the client experience.

Qualified candidates must have residential experience. Candidates should also be able to exhibit strong and effective organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to present confidently. The ability to juggle multiple projects is essential. Must be proficient in Revit.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Works with Architectural team to develop the interior design direction, translating complex programming requirements into schematic design while developing detailed concepts focusing on the client experience.
  • Researches materials and concepts to advise and direct design team on technical issues influencing interior design concept development.
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively and professionally with team members.
  • Utilizes experience to enhance the quality of design.
  • Coordinates the design work of others and ensures integrated and cohesive design.
  • Works within project schedules to prioritize tasks and coordinate the completion of documentation required from initial design phase through final project completion.
  • Reviews material submittals and conduct on-site observations.
  • Coordinates interior design data gathering and document preparation.
  • Provides support to architecture team during on-site construction meetings.
  • Assist deliverable design and development to stay within project schedule and budget.

Desired Skills

  1. Bachelors’ or Masters’ degree from an accredited Interior Design / Interior Architecture program
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience
  3. LEED certified (Optional)
  4. Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and other graphic tools
  5. Strong presentation skills
  6. Must have excellent customer service and communication skills.
  7. Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
  8. Experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Project Schedule, Outlook)
  9. General understanding of architectural and engineering systems, products, building materials, and specifications.
  10. Interfacing with vendors, consultants, and clients confidently
  11. Knowledge of architectural design development, construction documents, codes, standards, and other disciplines as related to interior design.
  12. Knowledge of design showrooms, furniture fabricators, trends (including sustainability).
  13. Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
  14. Strong technical and graphic communication skills.
