Max Dignam Interiors specialises in high-end residential work predominantly in London and New York, based out of a growing and dynamic studio in Knightsbridge. The successful candidate will report to the creative director and will get significant exposure and experience across all elements of a project. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior designer to develop as the studio embarks on an exciting period of growth.
Salary and benefits are competitive and will be based on candidate experience. Flexible working is available with a minimum of two studio-based days per week.
The candidate
The successful candidate must have a university-level interior design degree and one to three years experience, specialising in high-end residential projects.
The candidate needs to be driven, ambitious, talented and able to apply themselves to the challenges and tasks of working in a small busy studio.
They will be working on a range of high-end residential projects while learning and developing their skills. The candidate will need to take ownership and responsibility of their own workload, using their initiative and creative skills to solve problems and meet deadlines.
The candidate must be proficient in Indesign, Photoshop, AutoCAD and SketchUp. Excellent communication skills will be required, as the candidate will be expected to discuss and present their ideas to the design team and liaise with contractors, consultants and clients.
Responsibilities to include the following:
- assisting with the concept design and presentation by helping with image sourcing, 3D sketching and Photoshop editing and setting up/printing presentation boards
- assisting with 2D AutoCAD drawings
- assisting with FF&E sourcing
- assisting with lighting, ironmongery and sanitary ware sourcing, by investigating and contacting new and innovative suppliers/manufacturers. Scheduling and distributing any supporting technical documentation
- researching new materials and finishes, ordering samples and documenting/storing them within the material library
assisting with paper and electronic filing and recording all project documentation - assisting with site visits and queries
- assisting with site installation
Essential experience, skills and qualifications:
- degree or equivalent in interior design, furniture design or architecture
- creative ability gained from a related design degree and practice ability to interpret briefings correctly
- ability to present effectively
