We are looking for an AV Design Engineer for a 3-month contract assignment to support the development of a large commercial project at the conceptual design stage of the process.  This is an opportunity to work on cutting edge designs and technology solutions.


  • Provide comprehensive operational knowledge of hardware, software, media and systems for professional audio, video, studio, projection, multimedia, networked and web server applications.
  • Design and engineers fixed and mobile large-scale imaging, projection, video production and editing, conferencing, status display, production and audio/acoustic systems for conference rooms, theaters, and command centers.
  • Manage computer simulation and modeling of spaces, for acoustics, lighting, and electronic circuits and systems.
  • Perform rapid prototyping, construction, integration, installation, checkout and calibration of complex AV and media systems.
  • Provide deep knowledge of circuit and systems engineering in both analog and digital domains, as well as M&S, CAD, and computer aided design/engineering techniques.
  • Manage systems design, documentation, installation, and operational experience for Sound, Video, Projection, Lighting and Media system, including motion control, systems automation, and programming.


  • BS in Electrical or Systems Engineering a strong plus.
  • 10+ years AV experience in highly technical and creative environment
  • Strong technical background/aptitude; engineering necessary, including rapid prototyping/development or designing one of a kind/complex systems.
  • Similar experience/expertise as a chief engineer at a broadcast network is preferred.
  • Experience in with both analog and digital systems.
  • Must be flexible and able to accept rapid changes and have real-world large scale systems experience and knowledge down to working component and circuit level expertise.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities, able to diagnose and repair equipment or software as needed.
  • Strong familiarity with brands, suppliers, and technical supply options is required, as well as rapid prototyping experience.
  • Proven ability to get the job done when on aggressive production schedules.
  • Effective communication on all levels.
  • Able to work well independently and as be a collaborative partner on an architectural design team.
  • Experience with both entertainment and government domains a big plus.
  • Experience in Power systems and Power distribution.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Safety codes (e.g., NFPA 70 & 72).
  • Knowledge of Public Address systems and Mass Notification systems.
  • Show Control and Programming experience.
  • Security systems and Building systems knowledge.
