Denise Hall Montgomery Architecture seeks an individual with 3-5 years of professional experience in AutoCAD, Sketchup and Archicad, for residential Type V construction. Our firm provides a friendly and collaborative work culture with a flexible schedule and a team that experiences the design process from conception through construction.
About the Position
This role will report to and work independently and collaboratively with the design lead and project manager. The Production Designer is responsible for traveling to local building sites and agencies, participating in project reviews with the project teams, and creating conceptual designs and construction documents.
In the first three months, you will:
- Develop familiarity with the firm’s design standards, software package, systems and processes
- Prepare drawings to submit for permit
- Apply knowledge and expertise acquired through progressive experience to resolve crucial issues and/or unique conditions
- Assist Architects with Materials & Finish Selection
- Provide site measurements and create as-built drawings
- Travel to local building sites and agencies
- Collaborate with the design team to set the design direction of residential projects
Over time you will:
- Develop your skill set for detailing projects
- Gain experience in project management
- Further your knowledge and understanding of construction administration
Qualifications and Qualities:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture
- Demonstrates a fundamental knowledge of design, the construction process, and building systems, including residential design and Type V construction knowledge
- Demonstrate a general knowledge of the building codes including CBC and regional zoning codes
- Able to work independently and collaboratively with a team
- Maintains proficiency with relevant software
- Responds to directions and confident in voicing concerns and questions
- Takes initiative and pull together necessary resources to accomplish work assignments
- Demonstrates judgment and provide effective feedback
- Rationalizes design solutions to colleagues
- Adapts to changes in priorities and shift between multiple projects of varying size and complexity
- Demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal skills
- Evaluates and prioritizes tasks
- Meets project goals on time and on budget
- Follows up in a timely manner with team leaders, clients, and consultants
- Takes initiative without waiting for direction.
- Enjoys learning and creative problem solving.
