Duties: Develop building enclosure design and the technical detailing. Develop building wall type drawings from schematic design phase to design development phase. Make design recommendations based on functionality, physical requirements, regulatory codes, environmental rules, safety issues, and other design and construction related factors. Manage and review shop drawings, submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs) during construction administration phase, and resolve conflicts in interpretation and fully coordinate drawings amongst all trades. Strategize overall project vision, project goals, and delivery method at various stages of the project. Apply theoretical as well as practical architecture skills to win competitions as well as execute them to physical completion. Coordinate with consultants to execute the building enclosure design during construction. Review and interpret architectural drawings and project specifications, contracts, contract drawings, and cost estimates for curtain wall/building enclosure technical design. Guide the design team and drafting personnel in the preparation of detailed design drawings. Monitor the design process from conceptual phase through construction administration, ensuring the building enclosure design idea is consistent and properly executed during construction. Attend on-site visits, field reviews and project meetings. Liaise with the client on all design and construction related issues, assess their needs, and develop strategies to satisfy their objectives, communicate the direction with the project team and aid their marketing strategy. Attend consultant coordination meetings on structure, MEP (mechanical, engineering, and plumbing), lighting, landscape, and building enclosure. Utilize Rhino, V-Ray & Photoshop to perform complex 3D modeling, designing, rendering, and visualization. Use AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite to prepare and produce design drawings and presentation materials. Manage progress schedule and updates.
Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent in Architecture, Architectural Design or related plus two (2) years of experience with building enclosure design and technical detailing; building wall type drawings from schematic design phase to design development phase; shop drawings, submittals, and Requests for Information (RFIs) during construction administration phase; resolving conflicts in interpretation and coordinating drawings amongst all trades; using Rhino, V-Ray & Photoshop to perform complex 3D modeling, designing, rendering, and visualization; using AutoCad and Adobe Creative Suite to prepare and produce design drawing and presentation; and technical drawing and documentation from concept to design development. Employer is willing to accept a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Architecture, Architectural Design or related plus five (5) years of post-baccalaureate progressively responsible experience in the aforementioned skills. Position requires 8-12% international travel.
