Your Role

Gensler’s architecture practice is looking for a Senior Architect who will push the parameters of architectural design, and help guide project teams for leading academic and civic institutions. You will work closely with the Principal-In-Charge, the Design Director, and the Design Manager to inspire and build Educational projects of all scales and complexities. Building the Education practice is critical to our strategic plans, so you will be integral to moving our entire practice into the future.

What You Will Do

  • Mentor and provide direction to individual design team members
  • Participate in all project phases, with a primary focus on design development, construction documents and construction administration.
  • Collaborate with design team, clients, consultants, contractors, fabricators, regulatory agencies and other vendors to meet overall project objectives.
  • Produce BIM models and construction drawings; Oversee the creation and maintenance of the project manual and specifications with our in-house spec writing team.
  • Resolve challenging technical and design issues with the team to produce innovative, technical, constructible solutions.
  • Actively lead smaller projects or co-lead a team on larger projects for successful delivery.
  • Co-manage construction meetings, team communication and consultant coordination.
  • Be facile and open to experience with diverse design elements including environmental/social project contexts and sustainability.

Your Qualifications  

  • 10+ years of experience in an architecture design firm
  • Architectural License is required
  • Advanced degree in Architecture preferred
  • Demonstrated passion for design thinking
  • Demonstrates commitment to sustainability and sustainable building practices required. Portfolios should include at least 1 project with this particular focus, and candidates should be prepared to talk to this in their interview, especially built projects with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard, Fitwell and /or Net Zero Building certification
  • Commitment to creative user engagement, and design for diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding graphic presentation skills
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship management and mentoring skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of 3D modelling and documentation tools including Revit and Adobe Suite
  • General knowledge of the total project process including team management, schedule and budget

*The base salary will be estimated between $118,000 – $140,000 plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.*
