Job Description: The firm is looking for a mid-level or at least two-year parametric modeler who will work with the lead designer to help with the early stages of design ideation utilizing parametric modeling using various applications as specified below. Following the ideation phase, this person will develop project designs using Revit or other software and will participate in the production phase of projects. Experience with residential multifamily is a plus. Flexibility and willingness to learn are the most important things in this role. There will be a mix of hands-on mentorship, but also quite a bit of self-directed work where we will expect you to figure things out on your own. You will be expected to be able to pick up new technologies and work your way through complex tasks independently.
REQUIREMENTS:
- MA or BA Accredited degree in architecture, building technology or relevant fields.
- 3 or more years of experience in a design-focused firm and demonstrating creative thinking and exceptional taste in design.
- Proficiency with 3D modeling tools: AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch-Up, Houdini, Blender, Rhino 3D & Grasshopper, and other tools such as Adobe Creative Suite.
- Additional experience with the following is highly desirable: Lumion, Maya, Unreal Engine.
- Engage in design reviews, presentations, and other team processes, providing constructive and timely feedback with visual communication of ideas through modeling, drawings, sketches, or renderings.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully collaborate with a multidisciplinary team who work in a hybrid environment.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Effective time management, organized with great attention to detail and coordination abilities.
- Ability to support multiple projects.
- Positive attitude and sense of accountability.
Preferred computer graphics and design communication qualifications:
- Design Communication Software (Adobe Creative Cloud).
- Technical Drawing Software (AutoCAD, Revit required).
- 3D Modeling Software (Rhino, SketchUp, Photoshop, Revit, Lumion, Enscape, Maya, Unreal Engine – must be capable of providing photo-realistic renderings).
- AI Concepts using MidJourney, ComfyUI, Stable Diffusion, and others.
- Parametric Scripting knowledge (Rhino Grasshopper required).
- Python scripting and any other coding experience is a plus.
- VR/AR capability is a plus.
Please note that this internship:
- is a paid internship, $16.50 – $20 per hour.
- is at least 4 days a week, 10am – 6pm.
- is entirely in person and you must be currently based in NYC.
