Kaplan Thompson Architects is a Portland, Maine architecture firm seeking an Architectural Project Architect with 3 to 6 years of professional experience for work on varied projects, all with a creative design and deep sustainability focus.
Up-to-date experience with ArchiCad BIM is required. Technical detailing skill, and experience with single family residential and affordable multifamily are of vital importance.
Work would begin assisting existing project teams, and would expand into leadership opportunities once integrated. Remote work in the short term is a given due to the current state of the world. Aptitude for distributed work platforms and team based task management will be required.

We maintain an open, collaborative team approach and typically have a collegial studio atmosphere in our offices centrally located in Downtown Portland. We all currently work remotely but hope to move back there soon!
Work in a collaborative team structure with other architects and designers, primarily managing single-family and multi-family residential projects, restaurants, and schools; often responsible for design; provide Building Information Modeling, research, renderings, presentation boards as required; work within and eventually manage a team of designers and subcontractors.
Qualifications, Skills & Knowledge Requirements
- Excellent design skills
- Education / interest / experience – and passion – in the field of sustainable design
- BArch or MArch completed
- ArchiCad experience REQUIRED
- Experience with Living Building Challenge, DECLARE Products, and Red2Green materials database a plus.

Compensation will be based on experience and leadership potential, and we will consider salary matching.
