Astro Lighting is hiring a junior designer to join its team in Essex, UK.

Astro has been a leading designer and producer of contemporary lighting for over 25 years and is seeking a junior designer to join its team in Harlow, Essex.

This exciting opportunity will report to the head of design and work with a talented team of product specialists and engineers to devise timeless design solutions that are accessible, sustainable, and elevate what came before them.

What you will do:

  • visualise and execute product concepts under the guidance of the head of design
  • collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand design requirements
  • research lighting design and industry trends to inform your designs
  • develop visualisations for discussion with the senior design team

What qualities and skills you need:

  • evidence of considered design and development processes (a design portfolio is preferred)
  • confident sketching ability and visualisation skills (KeyShot is preferred) and proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks is preferred)
  • enthusiastic and able to take instruction as part of a team, yet when required work independently
  • confident in presenting ideas to senior stakeholders
  • a good understanding of CMF within the lighting industry
  • confident in managing multiple projects to an agreed deadline
