T.W. Ryan Architecture is a studio-based architectural practice located in Mill Valley, California and active throughout the United States. We work on cultural, hospitality and residential projects at a variety of scales, with a particular focus on arts related commissions. We are committed to work that is human-scaled and particularly attuned to the natural, historical and cultural landscapes in which it is located.

Job Captain / Intermediate Architect
Experience: 5+ years
Description: Mid to Senior Level Architect/Designer with 5+ years experience in all phases of design, with particular emphasis on Design Development and Construction Documents. Candidates with experience in custom-residential and/ or hospitality work are preferred.
Qualifications
- Accredited Bachelors or Masters degree in architecture
- Five+ years of related professional experience, preferably including design and detailing experience on high-end custom residential and / or hospitality projects
- Technical knowledge and understanding of construction methodologies and sequencing as they relate to architectural assemblies
- Proficiency in AutoCad, SketchUp, Rhino, and Adobe CS
- Excellent verbal, written and graphic communication skills
- Must be eligible to work in the United States and willing to relocate to the Bay Area
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Principal and Team in the development of the project planning, design and detailing
- Manage and actively participate in the production, organization, coordination, thoroughness, and accuracy of all documents in the drawing set
- Communicate with and coordinate the efforts of project team members, clients, consultants, contractors and agency officials
- Assist the Project Manager to track budget and schedule, anticipate required staff resources and organize workflow
- Work with the project team to produce presentation materials for client and agency presentations
- Research and specify materials, products and systems
- Attend jobsite meetings, issue supplemental instructions and RFI responses, process submittals and shop drawing review during Construction Administration
- Mentor junior staff and share experiences to increase the firm’s common knowledge
