ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER

EMPLOYMENT STATUS  Full-Time Employee  – In-Office

OVERVIEW

Anacapa Architecture is seeking talented Architectural Designers to become an integral part of our Santa Barbara, CA, and Portland, OR collaborative studio environment, working on all phases of project delivery on a wide variety of project types.

Architectural Designer I 

A successful Designer I at ANACAPA will skillfully assist in all aspects of project design and delivery. This person will be a core member of a design team to support a Project Manager in the execution of production, compilation, and distribution of digital drawing sets, and complete design studies and implementation of design concepts in a wide variety of mediums to support one or more projects and Project Managers. This includes design, due diligence, 3D modeling, building information modeling, presentation graphics and materials, production of plans and specifications, quality control, construction administration, coordination with the Anacapa team members, and adherence to deadlines and schedules. Designer I is a role for a graduate with 3-5 years of architectural experience. This person will assist our main Revit designer responsible for progressing the daily design or technical development of a project to support one or more project managers.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture
  • Licensed Architect (preferably in California) or pursuing licensure
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience

AIA Level I – Position Description:  Professional degree in architecture, plus three to five years of related experience. Fully competent architect in all conventional aspects of architecture. Independently performs a variety of assignments requiring skills in all conventional aspects of architectural designs for projects of moderate size and complexity. Performs analyses of design, planning and occupancy studies, and limited design layouts. Prepares project specifications, compiling and analyzing relevant data. Writes reports and specifications. Reviews completed reports, plans, estimates, and calculations.

Pay Range – $52,000 – $80,000 Annually

Architectural Designer II 

A successful Designer II at ANACAPA will skillfully assist in the management of all aspects of project design and delivery of multiple projects simultaneously. This person will be a core member of a design team to support a Project Manager in the execution of production, compilation, and distribution of digital drawing sets, and complete design studies and implementation of design concepts in a wide variety of mediums to support one or more projects and Project Managers. This includes design, due diligence, 3D modeling, building information modeling, presentation graphics and materials, production of plans and specifications, quality control, consultant coordination, construction administration, coordination with Anacapa team members, and maintaining deadlines and schedules. Designer II is a role for a graduate with 6-8 years of architectural experience. This person will be the primary support for our main Revit designer supporting a Project Manager or Project Architect and will ultimately be responsible for the daily design or technical development of a project.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture
  • Licensed Architect (preferably in California) or pursuing licensure
  • 6-8 years of professional design experience

AIA Level II – Position Description:  Professional degree in architecture, plus at least six years of related experience. Responsible for specific technical design aspects of an assigned major project, including investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of design solutions that best meet the client’s needs. Provides professional architectural consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of large complex projects. Independently applies advanced architectural concepts and designs. Carries out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures. May provide technical guidance to less experienced architects.

Pay Range – $60,000 – $106,000 Annually

Architectural Designer III

A successful Designer III at ANACAPA will skillfully manage all aspects of project design and delivery of multiple projects simultaneously. This person will be the primary support for one or more Project Managers. This includes liaising with project managers, consultants, and architectural staff on all aspects of project design and delivery including client communications, design, 3D modeling, building information modeling, presentation graphics and materials, production of plans and specifications, quality control, consultant coordination, construction administration, coordination with Anacapa team members, maintaining deadlines, budgets, and schedules, and mentoring junior design staff. Designer III is a role for a graduate with 8 or more years of architectural experience. This person will be our main Revit designer supporting a Project Manager or Project Architect and will ultimately be responsible for the daily design or technical development of a project.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture
  • Licensed Architect (preferably in California) or pursuing licensure
  • 8 + years of professional design experience in the architectural field

AIA Level III – Position Description:  Professional degree in architecture, plus at least eight years of related experience. Participates in the conceptual design and provides full support through the entire project. Serves as a SME on specialized systems. Liaises with Project Management, other architects and consultants. Develops and represents lead technical viewpoint on projects. Coordinates with Director and Department Head on appropriate technical solutions and product strategies. Project size differentiates this position from the senior level.

Pay Range – $65,000 – $110,000 Annually

Interior Architectural Designer 

A successful Interior Architectural Designer at ANACAPA Architecture will skillfully manage the Interior design of multiple projects simultaneously. This includes design, 3D modeling, presentation graphics and materials, production of plans/specifications, quality control, consultant coordination, product selection, specification, and procurement, construction administration, coordination with Anacapa team members, and maintaining deadlines and schedules. The Interior Architectural Designer will ultimately be responsible for the daily design or technical development of the interiors of a project.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Interior Design and/or Interior Architecture
  • NCIDQ Certificate or pursuing certification
  • 3 – 5 years of relevant work experience

Pay Range – $55,000 – $90,000 Annually

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Excellent design capabilities on a wide range of projects
  • Extensive experience in AutoCAD and Revit REQUIRED
  • Proficiency in either Rhino or 3DS Max using V-Ray
  • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Effectively work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with building code analysis, due diligence, zoning, and design review board requirements
  • High proficiency in coordination with consultants
  • Extensive experience with and comprehension of engineering documentation
  • Ability to prioritize and manage work independently
  • Work constructively as a member of a collaborative team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
